The AQ course Reading - Part 1 is an introductory course that focuses on the relevant research evidence underpinning effective reading instruction. It is of interest to teachers who wish to acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in effective reading instruction. Candidates have an opportunity to reflect, apply their learning and share their experiences. Candidates come to the course with an interest in this particular subject matter. Critical to reading instruction is the ability of teachers to ensure positive, interactive learning experiences for all students. Teachers are or become skilled at combining their knowledge of student development and learning with their understanding of effective reading instruction.
