The underlying purpose of the AQ course, Dramatic Arts, Part I, is to develop the skills and knowledge of teachers in the design, delivery and assessment of dramatic arts education.
The course supports the expectations outlined in the Ministry of Education's curriculum policy documents and other policies. It is an introductory course that focuses on the theory and practice underpinning dramatic arts education. The course explores the teaching and learning of the concepts, curriculum, program delivery and connections between dramatic theory and practice.
Although it is of particular interest to those wishing to teach drama as a subject, it is also an important introduction to all teachers who wish to deepen their knowledge of drama as an effective learning approach in all areas of the curriculum.
