Cooperative Education (Part 1) focuses on the following key areas: curriculum policies and guidelines for the teaching delivery of co-operative education courses and other forms of experiential learning as established by the Ministry of Education; an examination of the different forms of experiential learning and the working relationship among the various participants involved in experiential learning - including community and school staff partners, pre-course planning and the process of student selection; an examination of the different aspects of the classroom component in co-operative education; program planning and an examination of the different aspects of placements; placement assessment in cooperative education; classroom learning assessment; and an examination of the assessment and evaluation of cooperative education student performance - including regular on-site assessments of student learning, as well as legal and ethical issues.
The Additional Qualification course: Co-operative Education, Part I is an
introductory course open to all elementary or secondary teachers who have a basic qualification in general studies or technological studies and who are interested in learning about co-operative education and other forms of experiential learning including, for example, job shadowing, job twinning, school-work transitions, including the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP).
