Marcel comes to the UOIT Faculty of Education Team from the Durham District Catholic School Board where he has recently retired after 33 years of teaching Science and Chemistry. He was the Science Curriculum Chair at Monsignor John Pereyma C.H.S since its inception 19 years ago.
He has been involved with the Faculty since the beginning of the University having taken on a student teacher in each of his last four years. He has worked on Learning Objects (LO) with Liesel. Last year he taught a section on electricity for Science Camp. He has written an article encouraging other teachers to take on a student candidate. He was also the first winner of the laptop draw for associate teachers.
He is a graduate of Queens University where he met his wife and has lived in Oshawa for the past 30 some years. He has been fortunate enough to have taught Chemistry to each of his four daughters. He is an avid MAC user and likes to geocache in the summer.
He is very excited about teaching Chemistry curriculum methods. What a way to finish off a career in education, training others to be Chemistry teachers. He will also be a faculty advisor this year.
