Research Interests

Technology Leadership in schools is a primary research interest. As technology becomes more accessible, insights can be gained by examining digital student learning both outside and inside school systems.

A second and related research interest is the investigation of Multiple Literacies in Teacher Pre-service programs with Janette Hughes. We are interested in how digital technology supports teacher candidate expression through multi-modal formats. Closely related to this, we are also examining how teacher candidates in a Pre-service Language Arts program come to understandings about Social Justice.
Earlier research interests in Body Image and Media Literacy are ongoing.

Current Projects

1)    "Building Deep Capacity: Multiple Literacies in Teacher Pre-Service" with Janette Hughes we are mid-phase in collecting data on Pre-service teachers' understandings of how digital technology supports their expression through multi-modal formats. (REB approved)
2)    "Critical Literacy" co-researching with Janette Hughes as PI, we are mid-stage in examining how Pre-service teachers come to understandings about social justice through a Pre-service program.
3)    Technology Leadership, preparing a chapter for an upcoming publication.
4)    Policy Analysis of pan-Canadian curriculum in the areas of media literacy and body image.
