International: Required Documentation
For Applications to the 2010-2011 Academic year
Required documentation for P/J and I/S applicants submitting academic documents from countries outside Canada or the USA:
All applicants, no matter where in the world they have studied, are required to submit documentation (transcripts, marks sheets, indexes) of their academic background, which should include:
1. Names of all courses studied and grades awarded
2. Course hours or credit units or total marks
3. Undergraduate degrees and any graduate degrees awarded
4. Statement confirming graduation
Please refer to the two options below on how to submit your academic documents to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).
1) Academic documents sent by the issuing university directly to UOIT will be accepted as official if they are received at UOIT in the original unopened envelope which has been clearly sealed by the issuing university.
OR
2) Academic documents that you have obtained directly from your university can be forwarded to UOIT and will be accepted as official if they are received at UOIT in the original unopened envelope which has been clearly sealed by the issuing university. If the envelope has been opened, then your academic documents will not be accepted.
Official academic documents as per points 1 or 2 above, must arrive at UOIT no later than Friday
December 1, 2009 by 4:30pm or your file will be deemed incomplete.
If your official academic documents do not include an official English translation, then a photocopy of your official academic documents will be sent to you to obtain an official English translation. The translator must be accredited by a professional association of translators in Canada. To obtain the name of an accredited translator, please refer to this website: http://www.atio.on.ca
Evaluation of Academic Documents from Countries Outside Canada or the USA:
The International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS) has been contracted by UOIT to provide academic assessments of educational documents for all applicants educated outside of Canada or the USA, so that UOIT can determine if the applicant meets the minimum academic admission requirements for the one-year P/J or I/S Bachelor of Education program.
All official academic documents received at UOIT will be forwarded to ICAS for evaluation. UOIT will email you directly to advise you that your originals have been received and that they are in the process of being forwarded to ICAS.
If ICAS required any further information/documentation regarding your foreign education or academic documents, they will send you a detailed email informing you of what they require.
Please do not send any information to ICAS unless you receive an email from them.
Please monitor your email account and ensure that there is enough space for incoming emails.
Do not mail ANY documents to ICAS or UOIT that you cannot replace because once they are submitted, you will not be able to get them back.
All documents submitted become and remain the property of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
ICAS will forward its evaluation to UOIT and this will be placed in your file. If UOIT determines that you meet the minimum academic admission requirements, then your file will proceed to the next step in the Bachelor of Education admission process (review of supplemental package).
You will
NOT receive a copy of the evaluation from ICAS or UOIT.
Applicants, especially those submitting academic documents from other countries, need to be aware that assessment of academic standing by UOIT is for admissions purposes only. The Ontario College of Teachers (www.oct.ca) does not have to accept our assessment of your academic standing and will make its own evaluation for certification purposes.
Reminder:
Supporting documentation is not retained from year to year. New documents must be submitted with each new application.
