Concurrent: Admission Requirements
Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum overall average of 75 percent in:
- six 4U or 4M credits including English (ENG4U), calculus (MCB4U)
- two of biology (SBI4U) chemistry (SCH4U), physics (SPH4U) or algerbra and geometry (MGA4U)
In addition, a combined minimum of 75 percent average in mathematics and science courses is required.
Note: Admission into the Bachelor of Education program comes as a result of being admitted to the Faculty of Science - yet admittance into the 5th year of the BEd program only happens if students have achieved a 70 percent average in both their teachable subjects and also on their overall 4th year average. These requirements must be met to finish off the 5th year (mainly Education courses) of the program.
A criminal reference check and a Tuberculin (TB) test are also required. All associated costs are the responsibility of the student.
Enrolment in the program is competitive. Consequently, possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Acceptance is based on the number and calibre of applications received in a given year for the spaces available in the program. Applicants from other provinces or international students should visit the Admissions section of the UOIT website for more information.
