Laptop Education
Every teacher candidate in the BEd program receives a laptop and receives specialized training from instructors on its use. As a teacher candidate at UOIT, you will quickly become comfortable doing much of your learning with your laptop, even if you have not used one previously to this extent. All of the laptops are configured with the hardware and software to allow you to access education software. Some of this software includes Ministry of Education software, webspace editing packages and specialized programs for your teachable areas (such as GIS software for teacher candidates teaching Geography).
Teacher candidates use their laptops throughout the program both during classes and while on field experience. At UOIT we use WebCT as the main learning platform for sharing information.
We have a Faculty of Education Laptop Specialist who provides training and orientation sessions and daily support with hardware and software problems.
