- Please make sure you check your personal email account as details for Program Start Day were emailed out to you by the Faculty on Tuesday August 11th.
- Construction on Simcoe St. between Taunton Rd. and Conlin Rd. is preventing traffic through to main campus via Simcoe St. For those who are not familiar with Durham, alternative driving directions will be posted here tomorrow morning.
Created August 11, 2009 10:30 A.M.: OSAP Pickup
- If you are receiving OSAP, you will be able to pick it up at 11 Simcoe St (Faculty of Education Building) between Tuesday August 18th and Friday August 21st in the lobby. Pick up time is between 12pm and 1pm each day. You will not be able to pick up your OSAP on main campus.
Created August 11, 2009 9:30 A.M.: Paying Your Mobile Computing Fee with OSAP
- For those who have to pay the Mobile Computing fee through OSAP you MUST pick up a promissory note from the Accounting Office. Please go to the Accounting Office (South Wing 116) to pick this up PRIOR TO AUGUST 17th. If you are receiving OSAP funding and do not have a promissory note from Accounting, you will not be able to pick up your laptop. Promissory notes cannot be found online or emailed/faxed to you, you can only get this by visiting the Accounting Office.

Updated August 10, 2009 3:30 P.M.: Sample Math Diagnostic Questions
- The document containing the full solution guide was updated today at 2:30 P.M.
As we discussed at Jump Start, P/J teacher candidates will have the opportunity to take the math diagnostic test as part of Math Camp. This diagnostic test will help teacher candidates gauge their grasp of the current elementary math curriculum. We recommend that candidates who achieve less than a B- (70%) take the "Math for Teachers" elective. Just a reminder that Shirley Smith is your Academic Advisor, and you can speak with Shirley regarding registration for this elective if you have any concerns. At this point in time a number of you have already indicated a strong interest in this elective.

Updated August 7, 2009 9:30 A.M.: Program Start Info/Laptop & Tuition Payment
- Information will be posted here soon regarding your schedule for August 17th: Program Start Day! This information will also be emailed to your preferred email address.You will be provided a campus map as well. There will be B.Ed. graduates in each University building who will be able to assist you with questions or directions.
- Payment for your laptop is due by August 13th in order to pick it up on August 17th. It is MANDATORY that you pick up your laptop on this date. Payments can be made to UOIT through online banking (if you have this service), at your financial institution or through our Accounting Office on main campus. Your account number is your student number. For information on your fees and tuition, please see your MyCampus account.
- Tuition for the B.Ed. program is due no later than September 8, 2009.
Updated July 27, 2009 2:40 P.M.: Updates to Laptop Information
- B.Ed laptop model information for 2009-2010. Please refer to this document which outlines the laptop model and specifications for the laptop that is to be used for the B.Ed program for 2009-2010.
- The laptop ownership buyout fee for the B.Ed program for 2009-2010 will be $180 (tax included). If a student chooses to buyout the laptop that they have used throughout the program year, they will pay this fee closer to the end of the program. More information will be provided on the details of the buyout program throughout the year.
Updated July 20, 2009 2:55 P.M.: Parking Information and Campus Photo ID
- If you require a parking pass for the 2009-10 academic year, you MUST REGISTER for a parking pass NO LATER THAN AUGUST 1ST, 2009. Please visit
http://durham.parkadmin.ca/ to register for your pass. Please choose the MARY STREET PARKADE when choosing a parking lot. Students do not have access to the Centre Street parking lot.

- For those wishing to register for one of the following electives, registration begins today, July 15th at 12pm. You can register through your MyCampus account. The following electives are having additional sections opened:
- Fall 2009 - Teaching of English as a Second Language EDUC 3440U CRN 40211 (10 spots only) - FULL
- Fall 2009 - Math for Teachers EDUC 4622 - CRN 42012 (30 spots only) - 22 Spots remaining as of July 15th at 3pm
- Winter 2010 - Teaching Kindergarten EDUC 3450U - CRN 71952 (30 spots only) - Winter section FULL, Fall section 3 spots open as of July 15th at 3pm
- PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR A LAPTOP PICKUP SESSION! You will receive your laptop on August 17th with the rest of your class. If you have registered for a session, please contact IT and have your name removed from the session.

Anyone wishing to obtain their UOIT Photo ID prior to August 17th is able to do so at any time throughout July or early August. Please visit the Campus ID webpage HERE for all information required to pick up your ID card

If you are not able to have your Photo ID created before Program Start, you will have the opportunity to have this done on August 17th, but we strongly encourage you to have this done before you start the program

PLEASE NOTE**: If you get your photo ID done early you will not be able to pick up the ID until the second week of August (or on Program Start day) as they will not be able to validate the ID for the transit pass. ID services will store your picture until this can be done, then notify you when it is available to pick up prior to August 17th.
Updated July 08, 2009 2:25 P.M.: Tribes Training - Registration deadline is July 15th
- Tribes TLC Training for PJ and IS Teacher Candidates will take place on August 18-20th from 9 am to 4 pm daily at the Faculty of Education building, 11 Simcoe N. Participation is voluntary but you must pre-register if you are planning to attend.
Deadline to register is July 15th.

- Cost of the training is $100 which includes all materials, including textbook. Payment for the course will be collected during start-up week - the week of August 17th - details regarding time/location for payment, as well as methods of payment accepted TBA.

Created July 06, 2009 4:15 P.M.: Calendar Updates, Laptop Registration
- Please view the 2009-10 B.Ed. Program Calendar under the "Current Students" tab for the updated calendar as changes have been made recently. Specific changes that may affect your schedule outside of the B.Ed. program include November 13th becoming a Reflection + Study day, and November 20th is a required attendance day.
- UOIT B.Ed. students are
NOT REQUIRED to sign up for a laptop pickup session/registration. Your laptop will be distributed to you on August 17th, 2009 at Program Start day, being held on main campus. Please remember to make your Mobile Computing Learning fee payment at least two business days prior to the program start day, and also remember to remember to bring your student card or other valid form of photo ID.

Search by Term" select the appropriate term for the course you are looking for (either "UOIT Fall 2009" or "UOIT Winter 2010"). Once a term has been selected, select the proper course
Subject type (either "CURS - Curriculum Studies" or "EDUC - Education") and enter the appropriate 4-digit
Course Number and hit the
'Class Search' button. Doing this will pull up specific information on the course schedule, instructors, how many students have already registered for each class, etc.
- For more specific information and descriptions of all courses offered, please consult the
UOIT Academic Calendar. Search the course code you are looking for to find a description of the course.
- IMPORTANT. If you are selecting the Religious Education Elective: Students who are registering for Religious Education must register for both the Fall and Winter sections of the course. The section you register for in the Fall will determine the section you will need to Register in for the Winter. -Students who register for Fall - Tuesday (CRN 40577) must register for Winter section (CRN 71774) -Students who register for Fall - Thursday (CRN 41675) must register for Winter section (CRN 71775)

- If anyone is interested in finding someone to carpool with and has a Facebook account, one of our 2009-10 B.Ed. students has created a group called "UOIT Teachers 2009-2010" to connect with other incoming Teacher Candidates.
- * The program office at the faculty of education is notifying students of this Facebook group with the understanding that the purpose of the group is to assist teacher candidates with carpooling. Any questions or concerns on other matters should be sent directly to faculty-of-education@uoit.ca *

- If you are a Primary Junior B.Ed. student, please fill out the survey for the section of your preference. Only if the first survey you click on is closed or full, select another survey.
Sections have been assigned to those who did not complete the survey by June 22nd. Please be sure to check your email, as a confirmation of section was sent out.

- PJ Teacher Candidates PLEASE NOTE: A survey will be sent to you by email on Wednesday June 17th by 4:30pm and will also be posted on this website. Please fill out this survey in order to choose your section preference. Section preference requests are NOT being accepted by email. The survey will be sent to your PERSONAL email account you registered with on OUAC, not your MyCampus email account.
- If you are unable to complete the survey in the given time, a section will be chosen for you.
- Course registration will not take place until
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:30am and you will receive a notice by email from the Registrar's Office indicating your registration timeslot.
- Intermediate Senior students will be assigned a section based on your teachable subjects.
- As a note when choosing a section, if you choose section 5 for example, you will be in section 5 for both Fall and Winter. There are no section changes for the Winter 2010 term.

- In order for the Practicum Office to accommodate your School Board preference for placement, all Teacher Candidates must complete an online Field Experience Request Form in survey monkey
no later than April 17, 2009. The Practicum Office will be using this information when making your field experience placements and your prompt response is critical. Added April 1, 2009, 10:11 A.M : If you have been given a 'Conditional Offer'
- If you have received a conditional offer of admission, you must satisfy these conditions in order for your offer of admission to remain valid. The Faculty of Education must receive an original copy of your final transcript, sent directly from the issuing University with conferred degree status indicated, by no later than
July 1, 2009. Admission is conditional upon satisfactory completion of all courses currently in progress, program prerequisites, and a minimum final admission average of 70 per cent. Failure to meet the admission requirements may result in revocation of this offer.
