Cover Letters
The importance of the cover letter cannot be emphasized enough. As part of the professional teaching application, the cover letter is customized to each employer's perceived needs and expresses the ways in which you believe you can make a valid contribution.
For school board applications, the cover letter
MUST be customized to reflect the board's philosophy of education and should also reflect your thoughts on the board's strengths and the contributions that it makes to the local community. The letter should also provide to the reader your philosophy of teaching and describe how you would incorporate your professional strengths into a classroom.
The first draft alone of a good cover letter takes several hours to write properly.
Many of UOIT's past graduates found that their cover letter helped them to stand out from the competition more effectively than the resume. Both are important and work best in collaboration with one another.
